Accessing Device Manger via the Computer Management utility in Windows XP is very easy.
You won't find Device Manger in your list of programs in the Windows XP Start Menu because it's not a program in the typical sense.
Follow these easy steps below to access Device Manager from within the Computer Management utility:
Note: Can't access the Control Panel? There are a few other ways to open Device Manager in Windows XP.
Click on Start and then Control Panel.
Click on the Performance and Maintenance link.
Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply double-click on the Administrative Tools icon and proceed to Step 4.
In the Performance and Maintenance window, click on the Administrative Tools Control Panel icon toward the bottom of the window.
In the Administrative Tools window, double-click on the Computer Management icon.
When the Computer Management utility opens, click on Device Manager on the left side of the window, located toward the bottom of the list under the System Tools heading.
Device Manager should now appear on the right side of the Computer Management window.
Note: If you don't see Device Manager listed, you may need to click on the [+] next to System Tools.
You can now update device drivers, view system resources your hardware is using, or do whatever else you need to do in Device Manager.
