One really easy way to access Device Manger in Windows XP is from the Command Prompt. Just type a command and Device Manager starts right up!
Follow these easy steps to access Device Manager from the Command Prompt:
Note: Not comfortable working with commands? Luckily there are several ways to access Device Manger in Windows XP.
Click on Start and then Run.
Type the following command in the Open: text box, and then hit the Enter key or click on the OK button.
devmgmt.msc
Device Manager should display right away.
That's all there is to it! Now you can use Device Manager to update device drivers, view the system resources that Windows XP has assigned to your hardware devices, etc.
