Install Windows XP - Step 1 of 30

If you're planning on installing Windows XP on a new, empty hard drive then this step by step guide is for you. This guide is broken into three, 10-step parts and will walk you through every part of the installation.

The most important before setting up Windows XP is to check the minimum system requirements for installation. Microsoft sets these minimum standards based on their own tests of what kind of computer system will be able to handle the basic tasks of the operating system. Because a faster system will make for a much more enjoyable Windows XP user experience, I highly recommend that you not only meet but greatly exceed these requirements.

Note: The steps and screen shots shown in these 30 steps refer specifically to Windows XP Professional but will also serve perfectly well as a guide to installing Windows XP Home Edition.
