Registry Editor in Windows 7

Registry Editor (Windows 7)

Definition: Registry Editor is the tool used to view, create, and modify the keys and values that make up the registry.

All versions of Windows that utilize the registry include a copy of Registry Editor by default.

Windows does not create a shortcut to Registry Editor when Windows is installed so you must execute regedit, the run command for Registry Editor, to start the program. See How To Open Registry Editor if you need help with that.

See Windows Registry: What It Is and How To Use It for more information about using Registry Editor to make changes in the registry.

Also Known As: Regedit
