What Is the Help Command?:

The help command is a Recovery Console command that provides more detailed information on any other command available in Recovery Console.

The help command is very useful for displaying the range of options available with each Recovery Console command, in addition to a small description of its use.

Help Command Syntax:

help command name

command name = This is where you enter the Recovery Console command that you want more information about.

Help Command Examples:
help fixmbr

In the above example, information about the fixmbr command is displayed on screen including a short description followed by the various options available for use with the command.

fixmbr /?

In this example, information about the fixmbr command is displayed in exactly the same way as in the first example. The /? option next to any command performs the same function as the help command.

Help Command Availability:

The help command is available from within the Recovery Console in Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

The help command is also accessible from the Command Prompt in any version of Windows.

Help Related Commands:

The help command is often used with any of the Recovery Console commands.
