Control Panel Applet

By , About.com Guide

Definition: The individual components of the Windows Control Panel are called Control Panel applets.

Each Control Panel applet can be thought of as a miniature program that can be used to configure settings for any number of different areas of Windows.

See my Complete List of Control Panel Applets for more information on the individual applets you'll find in Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.

Most Control panel applets are accessible from the Command Prompt using special commands. See my List of Control Panel Commands in Windows for a listing of each Control Panel applet and its associated command.
