File Attribute

Definition: A file attribute (often just referred to as an attribute) in Windows is a specific condition in which a file or directory can exist.

A number of file attributes exist including the read-only file attribute, system file attribute, hidden file attribute, compressed file attribute and the archive file attribute.

Examples:
"While I was troubleshooting an issue with my computer starting up, I was trying to locate the msdos.sys file but couldn't see it. I finally realized that it had the hidden attribute turned on, along with the system and read-only attributes."
