DriversCloud (formerly called Ma-Config) is a free driver updater tool that's unique in that it runs from within your web browser.

It works by installing a program to your computer and then detecting the updated and outdated device drivers while providing a download link to get the most updated version of the driver for the device in question.

Because this tool works partly in a web browser, it's really easy to share the information it collects with someone else, such as a technical support person.

What We Like

DriversCloud is a bit more than a driver updater tool, but it does that job just fine.

It shows driver updates for Windows 11, Windows 10, and older versions of Windows.

It also functions as a BSOD analyzer and free system information tool, providing information on the network and installed graphics cards, PCI cards, peripherals, software, and more.

How to Use DriversCloud

Follow these steps to install DriversCloud on your computer and download outdated drivers:

  1. Visit DriversCloud's Find the Drivers page, and select Start Detection.

  2. Select Automatic installation on the download prompt.

  3. Save the program to your computer, and then open it and follow the on-screen directions to install it to your PC. You should only have to press a few buttons to get through the installer.

  4. Select Launch detection when the program opens.

  5. Review the drivers that the program detected, and use the download links to save them to your computer so you can install them.

My Thoughts on DriversCloud

My favorite feature is definitely its ability to scan for outdated drivers even if you don't have an active connection to the internet. Whether your network card's driver has stopped working or you just can't seem to get a valid connection, it doesn't matter — the offline version of the program will find the exact same information as the online one.

One complaint I have with other driver updater tools is that they don't seem to provide much information on the driver that is to be updated. For example, they'll show the date the driver was released but won't show the version number, which isn't very helpful when comparing it to the currently installed driver.

DriversCloud shows the detected and proposed driver's name, manufacturer, version number, INF file name, hardware ID, and more.

Something I find really useful about this tool, which might contribute to you using it as your main driver updater, is the fact that you don't have to manually download and install each driver. This can otherwise be a disadvantage for the average user, thanks to the myriad of ways to fumble while trying to get the drivers installed.
