SGE2000P Default Password & Other Default Login Info

By

Looking for the Cisco SGE2000P default password? You probably have little reason to access your switch on a regular basis so don't feel too bad if you've forgotten the SGE2000P default password.

However, when you're troubleshooting a network problem and need to get in to the device, the SGE2000P default password suddenly becomes very important.

For most versions of the Cisco SGE2000P, the default password is admin. As with most passwords, the SGE2000P default password is case sensitive.

In addition to the SGE2000P default password, you can also see the SGE2000P default username and SGE2000P default IP address in the table below.

Note: The Cisco SGE2000P default password may be different for certain hardware or firmware versions.

If I have that information, I'll include the exact SGE2000P version number along with the correct default password. You can usually find your Cisco SGE2000P version number on the bottom of the switch.

Be sure to change the default switch password on your SGE2000P to something more secure as soon as you're in. Then use a free password manager so you'll never forget your new SGE2000P password.

Help! The SGE2000P Default Password Doesn't Work!

At some point during the life of your particular Cisco SGE2000P, the default password, username, and/or IP address might have been changed.

For most networks, if the Cisco SGE2000P default IP address has been changed, the new IP address for the SGE2000P switch can be determined using tracert, a command available from the Command Prompt in Windows.

See How To Identify Network Hardware IP Addresses on a Local Network if you need help using tracert to find the SGE2000P default IP address.

In situations where the SGE2000P default password or SGE2000P default username has changed, you'll need to reset the Cisco SGE2000P to factory defaults. You can usually do that via a special button or sequence of actions.

The SGE2000P manual will have specific directions for performing a factory default reset. You can download the manual for the SGE2000P from Cisco Support.

Please let me know if any of the SGE2000P default login data below needs updated. For other questions about the SGE2000P default information on this page, see my Default Password FAQ.
