Email Tim Fisher, About.com Guide to PC Support

By Tim Fisher, About.com Guide

Like all Guides on About.com, I am a real person. I am the original author of everything on the PC Support site.

In addition to writing for About.com, I own and operate a small business. Needless to say I keep very busy and may not be able to respond to your email in a timely manner.

If you feel as though you need to contact me directly, please read through the FAQs below before sending me an email.

F.A.Q.

I have a computer problem! Can I email you directly about it?

No. Unfortunately, considering my workload, I don't have the time to personally research every problem I'm asked.

Instead: Post your question in the PC Support Forum.

Many computer service experts, including myself, visit the forum and answer questions. The chances of getting a prompt and personal reply are much better with a forum post than an email. The forum is really easy to use and there's no registration required.

If you do send me a computer question directly, I'll either forward you to the forum or just delete the email. Sorry, I just don't have the time.

I don't really have a problem, just a question about building a computer (OR if this piece will work with my computer OR if this laptop is a good buy OR ... Can I email you?

No. Sorry. Just like with computer problems, I simply don't have the time necessary to give you a good answer.

Post your question in the PC Support Forum and myself or one of the other more-than-capable volunteers can help you out there.

Something I found on your site needs updated. How do I let you know about it?

Please email me about any updates needed. Be sure to include a link to the page that needs updated and let me know exactly what you think needs updated.

I just have a comment about something. Can I email you?

You sure can. It might be quite some time before I have time to reply but I do try to return every single (polite) email I receive.

I have a suggestion for an article that should be on your site. Do you solicit ideas for new content or offer guest blog posts or articles?

I will absolutely take suggestions. There's no guarantee that I'll write it or add it to my site but you're more than welcome to send any ideas my way. I'd love to hear them.

As far as guest articles or blog posts: no, at least not at this time. I'll update this Q&A if that ever changes.

I'd like to interview you as an expert in your field. How can I contact you to schedule that?

If you'd like to schedule an interview, please send me an email with your contact information and some details about the piece your writing or filming.

How do I contact you about reviewing my book/product/software/service?

Email me with details.

However, please keep in mind that I do not guarantee that I will review your product or service even if you send it to me or give me access to it, nor do I guarantee that any review I do write will be positive.

The only guarantee I give with a review, if you get one, is that it'll be honest.

An additional tip for PR firms: far-too-frequent emails make me less likely to review your client's software or other product. I'm really good at making a note of things to review when I have time so reminding me via email on a weekly basis isn't helping.

You saved the day! How can I thank you?

If any of my troubleshooting or how-to guides saved you time, frustration, or money, a quick "Thank You!" email is always appreciated! I will most certainly email you back. These are my favorite kinds of emails! :)

I understand that you're busy and it might be a LONG TIME before you respond. So... what's your email address?

My email address is pcsupport@aboutguide.com.

Important: Remember, if you send me an email asking for computer help or for an answer to a computer question, I'll probably just delete it. My forum is a much better place to ask me and other experts for help.
