My monthly blog post on Patch Tuesday gets a lot of attention. It quickly becomes one of my most popular pages and certainly gets a lot of comments.
Most of those comments concern an issue someone is having post-Patch-Tuesday and are somewhere between cries for help and threats to Microsoft.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of the questions and pitch-fork-carrying comments are similar and I find myself answering them over and over again.
So to avoid that, I wrote up this work-in-progress FAQ about Patch Tuesday and Windows updates in general:
Windows Updates & Patch Tuesday FAQ
Anything you think I should add?

Microsoft usually takes a couple of weeks to a couple of months before they provide a patch, even if it involves a severe security breach.
Why should I be amongst the first to download and install it on my computer?
I usually wait a minimum of 3 days or more to find out if they’ve “patched” everything correctly without screwing up something else.
It’s a real thrill to have your computer not boot up after a Microsoft patch.
@Marty: That’s not a bad suggestion.
Windows is sometimes compared to the funeral home which could lose a body in a one-car funeral on its way to the wrong cemetery
