Firefox 8 became officially available earlier today.
As I mentioned in September when Firefox 7 was released, the Mozilla folks are pushing out major version updates on a pretty fast schedule. I wouldn't be surprised to see Firefox 9 out before the end of the year.
Firefox 8 isn't a big update over Firefox 7. There are some under-the-hood improvements and fixes, as well as the added ability of searching Twitter directly from the browser.
Before v8, there was also the possibility of some add-ons being installed without your permission. That's been fixed in this release which is really good news.
So as usual, the biggest change you'll see is some of your add-ons playing catch-up to the version change. Hopefully your favorites will get on board soon.
Have you downloaded Firefox 8 yet? Are you planning to?
