There are Two Kinds of People in the World...

... those who edit their registry and those who avoid it like the plague.

Sorry for the tired cliche but I rarely find a person who's in between. Many are comfortable editing and backing up (usually) registry entries while others are so afraid of it that they think they'll fry their computers just opening Registry Editor.

Which are you? Do you carelessly edit, edit with a good tutorial, use automatic registry tools, or avoid it altogether?

I avoid editing the registry like the plague - unless I’m told very specifically what I should be looking at fixing. Even then, I back up like there’s no tomorrow just in case!

I think automated registry scanning software is brilliant, but only the best programs. There are some apps out there that quite obviously do more harm than good. I think whichever type of user you happen to be, backing up the registry before you do anything to it should be seen as critical.

I don’t touch the Registry, because I don’t know what I’m doing!!! I leave that to the professionals.
