RIP Windows 3.x

Wednesday November 5, 2008
According to this BBC News article, Microsoft has stopped issuing licenses for Windows 3.x. Consider it dead.

"Windows 3.x was still being sold?!" Yes, but not on consumer PCs - of course. It's been used in several other capacities though. Check out the article for some interesting places that you surely never knew Windows 3.x was on.

Part of me is a bit sad. A lot of people spent a lot of time programming, marketing, and of course using that OS. Maybe I'm just remembering the good stuff (we humans have a tendency to do that) but it was pretty darn stable! Of course it didn't do much either.

Any fond (or not so fond) memories of Windows 3.1?
