The Registry is Your Windows DNA

The Windows Registry really is a sort of DNA for your Windows installation. Almost every configuration setting for the operating system and installed software is stored in the registry.

Many Windows users have been conditioned to fear the registry like the plague but if you're careful and proactive, working in the registry should always be pain free.
