Simple PC Speed-Up Trick

Wednesday October 1, 2008
I've written several articles on speeding up a Windows XP or Windows Vista PC by disabling some feature or changing some setting. While these can be excellent ways to help improve your computer's performance, there's one very simple trick that is often overlooked - using keyboard shortcuts!

Many things you may use your mouse for, especially tasks inside of menus, have keyboard shortcut equivalents that when used, can greatly increase your productivity. In other words, learning a few simple shortcut keys could greatly reduce the time it takes you to do many common Windows tasks.

For example, I'm often surprised how many regular computer users are unaware of the Cut, Copy, and Paste shortcut keys. These are functions that nearly everyone uses everyday. Using their shortcut key equivalents is much, much faster than using a mouse to find the options in a menu.

Learn about these shortcut keys and thousands more at KeyXL, a website dedicated to documenting keyboard shortcuts for many popular operating systems and programs.
