Download Windows Vista Service Pack 1

Tuesday March 18, 2008
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is finally available. You can download it from Microsoft's website right now.

It's a big download - over 400MB. If you'd prefer to use Windows Update to install Windows Vista SP1, you can get away with a much faster download. Either way gives you the same result - it's up to. Some people prefer to download the entire file so they can install it later.

Be sure to read all the documentation that comes along with this update. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 could cause problems with some of your software, but of course it could fix some issues you're having too.

Hi, I had very bad experience installing service pack 1. I downloaded the entire file (400MB) and then started to intall. I was getting error, then went to microsoft website and they gave a list to check. I was stupid I did all. Finally I thought, its a problem with my hard drive. I formatted my drive. Still no luck.

Then I dont know, next day i woke up. Opened my pc. Ran that service pack from online. It worked! MY BAD LUCK

Now i cannot install any other applications like yahoo messanger or any other simple applications… even direct X..

So my advice.. wait for SP2, its coming soon…!

Abdul,

I agree – I’m sure SP2 is well into development right now. Vista has been plagued with problems for many people.

The following may solve your no sound problem after installing vista sp1:
1. Use device manager to check your driver is ok and speaker icon is there. 2.Use control panel and select sound & headware to reset your headphone, microphone, speaker and volume.

Les, what sort of problem are you having, specifically? An error message? Some other kind of failure?

I tried downloading SP1 because it kept failing from windows update. The download stops frequently and won’t restart. I am now using Free Download manger to do the download. It is still stopping but at least I can restart without going back to the beginning.
