NEVER Download DLL Files

Thursday February 7, 2008
I've posted the last few weeks about DLL errors. I get a lot of questions about them since they're very, very common. In almost every situation, the error is saying that a some DLL is "missing" or "not found" or "corrupt."

A smart troubleshooter tends to start with a Google search for the DLL file. That's a great idea - you find all kinds of information from other users about how they solved the problem. Unfortunately, you also find sites offering to let you download your "missing" DLL file for free.

Sounds like a good idea, right? You're missing a DLL file and a website has a copy for you to download to replace it. Logical enough. Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but DLL download sites should be avoided - always. DLL files aren't meant to be replaced individually, are usually outdated when downloaded from these sites, and may even be infected with viruses!

Those were just some of the reasons you should stay away! Before your easy fix turns into a nightmare, find out exactly why you should never download DLL files from DLL download sites.

(1) not download dll file says:

If you can reinstall the software, don’t download dll files, reinstall’ll resolve all errors.
but sometimes you just got the error messages, you don’t even know why that happend. And you may just download and reg the dll file.Just don’t want to see the message again.
But that’s true, it’s not good way to resolve the error.
I think the best solution is try the search the information about that dll , find out why the error generated, and try to reinstall the program.
